Punjab launches India’s first ‘Easy Registry’ system to simplify property registration
Arya News - The chief minister welcomed all those witnessing the beginning of this historic transformation aimed at completely eradicating corruption and ensuring transparent governance.

NEW DELHI – Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday launched another revolutionary initiative in the form of “Easy Registry” to facilitate people across the state.
The chief minister welcomed all those witnessing the beginning of this historic transformation aimed at completely eradicating corruption and ensuring transparent governance.
For decades, he said, property registration had been considered a complicated and time-consuming process, often requiring repeated visits to Sub-Registrar offices and forcing citizens to face delays and corruption. People had to visit the Sub-Registrar office corresponding to the location of their property, adding to their burden and inconvenience. However, all this strenuous exercise, he said, will be a thing of the past. With the “Easy Registry” property registration in Punjab has entered a new era of simplicity, speed, and transparency.
He said the system would eliminate unnecessary delays and hardships for citizens, adding that Punjab is the first state in India to implement such an innovative step toward simplifying property registration.
The chief minister said citizens can now draft sale deeds online or through Sewa Kendras by paying a nominal fee of ₹500. As part of the “Sarkar Tuhade Dwaar” scheme, people can also call 1076 to avail this service. Complete online submission of documents will be possible within just 48 hours.
He further stated that Tehsildars will no longer be able to raise unnecessary objections to property registrations. A fixed time frame of 48 hours has been set for raising objections, and if any objection arises, it will be immediately referred to the concerned Deputy Commissioner, who will verify whether it is genuine.
The chief minister further said that citizens would receive updates about every stage of their registration process via WhatsApp. If anyone demands a bribe, complaints can also be lodged directly through WhatsApp.
Mann said he takes immense pride in the fact that Deputy Commissioners will now be responsible for ensuring smooth completion of every property registration. For this purpose, the Sub-Registrar Office in Mohali has been upgraded with a help desk and a comfortable waiting area.
He noted that earlier, registration could only be done at the Sub-Registrar office under whose jurisdiction the property was located. People seldom knew the status of their registration or the objections raised.
The chief minister added that through the “Draft My Deed” feature, anyone can prepare their own registration documents with the help of a Sewa Kendra or Sewa assistant. There will be no need to display separate transaction proofs, saving citizens multiple visits to banks. People will also no longer need to visit government offices repeatedly to collect their registration papers.
Once the registration is complete, citizens will receive confirmation through WhatsApp, allowing them to collect their deed in a single visit. The state government is continuously working to introduce more citizen-friendly reforms and improve the efficiency of Sewa Kendras and Helpline 1076, ensuring that people do not have to visit offices unnecessarily.
