Investing.com -- The FBI has thwarted a bomb plot targeting multiple locations in Los Angeles and Orange County that was planned for New Year’s Eve, Attorney General Pam Bondi announced Monday.
Four individuals connected to the Los Angeles area plot were arrested over the weekend, according to the FBI Director Kash Patel. A fifth person, believed to be planning a separate attack, was arrested by FBI agents in New Orleans.
The Justice Department has charged the four suspects with conspiracy and possession of an unregistered destructive device, according to the complaint.
One defendant provided a confidential source with a handwritten document describing the bombing plot, which called for planting explosive devices at five locations targeting two U.S. companies at midnight on New Year’s Eve in the Los Angeles area.
Attorney General Bondi described the foiled plan as a "terror plot" that had targeted immigration agents and vehicles in the region.
