Dense fog triggers vehicle pile-ups across India’s Uttar Pradesh
Arya News - In Agra, the iconic Taj Mahal was hidden under thick mist for the first time this season, with visibility reduced to less than 10 meters, leaving tourists unable to see the monument clearly.

LUCKNOW – A severe cold wave combined with snowfall in the hill regions has intensified winter conditions across Uttar Pradesh. On Monday morning, dense fog engulfed at least 20 cities, including Varanasi, Bareilly, Ayodhya, Jaunpur, Meerut, and Gorakhpur.
In Agra, the iconic Taj Mahal was hidden under thick mist for the first time this season, with visibility reduced to less than 10 meters, leaving tourists unable to see the monument clearly.
The dense fog has also led to a series of road accidents across the state. On Monday alone, four major accidents were reported involving 31 vehicles, leaving 11 people injured. A day earlier, on Sunday, six fog-related accidents involved 29 vehicles, resulting in the deaths of seven people. On Saturday, eight accidents occurred, damaging 40 vehicles, with four fatalities reported.
In total, nearly 100 vehicles have been involved in accidents over the last three days due to poor visibility caused by fog.
In Hapur, seven vehicles collided on the highway after a bus applied sudden brakes in dense fog. An Eco car crashed into the bus, followed by four more cars colliding with each other. A motorcyclist also rammed into the vehicles. A couple and their son sustained minor injuries.
In Mainpuri, four trucks collided after a tractor suddenly appeared on the road, which had remained unseen due to fog. Truck driver Dharmveer was seriously injured. He said the truck lost control, and three more trucks crashed into it from behind. Fortunately, the vehicles were moving at low speed, preventing a bigger tragedy.
Likewise, in Greater Noida, two separate accidents occurred on the Eastern Peripheral Expressway, injuring 10 people. The first accident near Galgotias University involved 12 vehicles. The second occurred near Dadupur village, where eight vehicles collided in a case of a pile-up.
