Rapid KL to launch new monthly pass in January

            Wednesday, December 17, 2025 - 08:51:18
Rapid KL to launch new monthly pass in January
Arya News - The Rapid Bulanan pass will offer unlimited travel across Rapid KL rail and bus services for 30 days, with the price set at RM150 for Malaysians and non-Malaysians.

PETALING JAYA – A new monthly Rapid KL pass will be introduced starting Jan 1.
Prasarana Malaysia Bhd stakeholder experience management and group marketing department acting head P. Ashok said the Rapid Bulanan pass will offer unlimited travel across Rapid KL rail and bus services for 30 days.
“With the increasing demand for public transport, including among expats and long-term visitors, the introduction of Rapid Bulanan provides more flexible and practical options for users who rely on Rapid KL rail and bus services every day.
“The price is set at RM150 for Malaysians and non-Malaysians,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Ashok said the new Rapid KL pass is among the refinements made in line with the development of the public transport network and the need to ensure more stable and sustainable services in the long term.
He added that the prices of several Rapid KL travel passes will be adjusted effective Jan 1.
As for the new pricing, Ashok said the daily Rapid Kota pass for Malaysians will cost RM10 while a three-day pass will cost RM25.
The Rapid Kembara day pass for tourists will cost RM25 while a three-day pass will cost RM55, he said.
“As for the Rapid Keluarga pass, which is only for Malaysians, it will be priced at RM30.
“For the Rapid Pelajar pass, a concession discount card will be offered exclusively for Malaysian students, with new applications to open on Jan 1.
“Foreign students with existing passes will be eligible for a 50% discount until the expiry of the pass or on Dec 31, 2026, whichever comes first,” he added.
Ashok said the adjustments in prices were made based on a comprehensive study of usage patterns, service network expansion and current operating costs.
“Despite the price adjustments, the Rapid KL travel pass continues to offer the best value to everyday users through consistent savings, unlimited travel convenience and an enhanced mobility experience.
“The move is in line with the transformation of the Rapid KL rail and bus network, which is now more comprehensive compared to a decade ago,” he said.
“These included the opening of the Kajang Line in 2016 and the Putrajaya Line in 2022, plus additional bus routes that expanded the area of coverage and increased service frequency.
“This adjustment is the first since 2009, taking into account the increasing operating and maintenance costs from year to year, in addition to Prasarana’s continuous commitment to ensuring that safety standards and service reliability are always at the best level.
“As for the My50, Rapid Emas and Rapid Mesra concession cards, the prices will remain in line with its ongoing commitment to ensure affordable and inclusive public transport, especially for those in need,” he added.
